"This is what songwriting is all about. You are a true songsmith."

About
It's all about the love of songs.
I've loved songs of all kinds since childhood, how they can open up your heart and mind, and take you on beautiful journeys where you never could have gone.
Though I've studied with an internationally known composer, a Grammy-Winning guitarist, a classical keyboard recording artist, and a professional jazz pianist, my main interest is songwriting. My songs are a tribute to the artists and songs that have meant so much to me and I hope to carry the flame forward. Below are a few selected songs, some acoustic ballads, then some electric band songs with Paul Moss guitar and Gary Nixon drums and a couple that I played all the instruments. After the songs are some notes and accolades.
Songs
The songs on the player are all written by me. I've posted some acoustic centric and some electric for variety. Some notes and accolades on the songs:
Our Golden Time is a personal song about fatherhood. It was selected as "Outstanding Achievement In Songwriting Award" in the Folk/Americana category of The Great American Songwriting Contest.
Faster Than Loneliness Can Find Me is performed by Moss Nixon (Paul Moss guitar, Gary Nixon drums and me) and was also awarded an Outstanding Achievement In Songwriting Award in the Great American Songwriting Contest.
I Lost A Hound, A Horse, A Dove is based on an enigmatic passage from Walden by Thoreau. It was a favorite in at the folk community at Artichoke Music in Portland.
Before My Luck Changed was praised by Adam Levy, guitarist and collaborator with Nora Jones, in a duo songwriter set I performed with him in Portland. The then manager of Artichoke Music said it was the best double songwriter set in his many years there.
Karma Brought Me Here is also performed by Moss Nixon and was produced/engineered by Gary Nixon
Love Is A Foolstar is a setting of a poem by Carl Sandburg from Honey and Salt, published when he was 85 years old.
I played or programmed all the instruments on Chasing That Feeling, Love Is A Foolstar, and Did Anybody Else Come Here To Cry?
